Sanskrit Name:Twak
Hindi Name:Dalchini
English Name:Bark Cinnamon
Latin Name:Cinnamomum zeylanicum
Description:A small evergreen tree with aromatic bark of about 6-8 m in height found growing wild in southern coastal regions of India. The bark is used as culinary spice and also in medicines.
Dosha:Pacifies Kapha and Vata.
Usage:Cinnamon bark is one of the common ingredients in spice mixtures used in India. Dalchini is known to increase salivation and to improve digestive functions. It also acts as a local antiseptic by virtue of its antibacterial action.
